Malaysia Airlines debuts Manchester United livery

Malaysia Airlines has added a fresh visual treat for aviation enthusiasts with the unveiling of a new special livery on Airbus A330-300, registration 9M-MTL. The eye-catching design celebrates the airline’s partnership with Manchester United—but for avgeeks, it’s another exciting addition to the skies and a unique aircraft to track and photograph.

The A330-300 now sports a bold and vibrant scheme that merges Malaysia Airlines’ traditional Jalur Gemilang flag livery with Manchester United’s iconic red. The design stretches from the nose cone through to the rear fuselage, creating a vivid hybrid identity that stands out among the airline’s standard fleet. 9M-MTL is being used to fly the Manchester United First Team on their post-season Asian tour, having already operated a special charter from Manchester to Kuala Lumpur on 26 May 2025. Following the Hong Kong match, the team will return to the UK aboard one of Malaysia Airlines’ Airbus A350-900 aircraft, another high-quality type in the airline’s fleet and a favourite among enthusiasts for its sleek lines and cutting-edge technology.
